All in all, if I ever am coming through the quaint little town of Middlebury, I will without a doubt be heading over to my home away from home at Two Brothers Tavern.
My wife and I have eaten here plenty of times, and it is always a pleasure. A great menu and a wonderful, rotating beer list. Tonight we enjoyed a pleasant evening outside with some good local beers and delicious food brought to us with great and friendly service (Nate). I highly recommend.
This place really does have it all. I stopped in here while staying in Middlebury on business, and I definitely was not disappointed. Have you ever walked into your grandmother's house and felt like you were so comfortable and at home while there? Well that feeling will come over you the second you sit down here.
We have been enjoying this place for many years as it was consistently great food, service and atmosphere but tonight something was definitely off. We were warned that the kitchen was backed up but we said we were fine with the wait. However, it took quite some time just to get water and once the food arrived, it was not the quality we had come to expect—medium steak was well done (and did not want to send it back and wait another 45 minutes). And as we finished up our meal, one employee plopped down at the table beside us to count out his cash drawer (out loud!). And on past visits, the check always arrived with some yummy chocolate nibbles—not tonight for us even though the table next to ours did get the little plate of chocolates with their check. Again, not sure what the issue was tonight but hope they can figure it out as it has always been one of our Middlebury favorites.
My favorite local place that never disappoints. Great food, and tons of new beers on tap....holy cow!! With all the locals sitting, you really are at home! Only downfall I can find was parking, but considering college is starting up right down the street, it is to be expected. Love this place!
The bartender was attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly well versed in the business. You can tell everyone knows everyone, and even the new-comers are welcomed into the family immediately.
Next time we will have food, as we only went there for cocktails.
I immediately befriended a fantastic mother/daughter duo who was attending the college and having a nice dinner. Local wine & beer, prosciutto and balsamic cover grilled peaches, and some amazing smelling wings!? It's upscale food. It's comfort food. It is everything. I had the best bacon corn chowder to warm my bones, then ended with the best local beef tartar I have ever had.
This place is great, staff are friendly, and the view is something else!
